Niall Annett steps up as Acorns Ambassador

Worcester Warriors’ Niall Annett has been announced as the Club’s official Player Ambassador for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The hooker steps up to the role for the 2017/18 season to help support the charity in its work providing care for local life-threatened and life-limited children and young people.

Annett, who has played for Warriors since 2014, was nominated for the position by former Warriors flanker and charity ambassador, Sam Betty.

Annett said: “I am really proud to be the new Player Ambassador for Acorns this season and would like to thank Sam for nominating me for this role.

“It’s an important position and I’ll do my best to raise awareness of the great work the charity does, both at the hospice and out in the community. We all know first-hand the amazing work Acorns does and we’re ready to help in any way we can.”

It’s a significant season for the partnership between the two organisations with 2018 marking 30 years since Acorns was founded. Warriors have a number of fundraising activities planned for the upcoming year, including the annual Charity Matchday in the New Year.

Amanda Smallman, Senior Manager, Corporate and Community Fundraising at Acorns, said: “We are delighted Niall will be supporting us in the role as official Player Ambassador and look forward to welcoming him and his teammates to Acorns in the new season.

“We’ve already seen a great deal of enthusiasm and understanding of our work from Niall and we’d like to say a huge thank you for his support to date.”

In the past year Acorns, which operates a hospice on the Bath Road, has cared for more than 870 children and over 1,090 families, including those who are bereaved.
