Warriors AASE beat Saracens in season opener

Warriors AASE side Worcester Sixth Form College got their season off to a flying start as they won 38-33 away at Saracens’ Oaklands College on Wednesday.

In a fine attacking display, Worcester Sixth Form College scored six tries courtesy of scores for Alex Haselock (2), Rob Lester (2), Paul Wells and Charlie Gamble, while Jake Leonard kicked four conversions.

Oaklands came back several times throughout the game but the young Worcester side couldn’t be stopped with ball in hand.

Warriors AASE Manager Ryan Watkins said: “To play away from home and secure a bonus-point win is always a good feeling. The squad will take a huge amount of confidence into our next game.

“I was really pleased with a number of performances but particularly Rob Lester and Ben Woodland who worked their socks off and showed huge leadership skills to the rest of the team.”

Worcester now have a bye week followed by their first home game of the season against Sale Sharks’ Myerscough College at Nunnery Wood Sports Complex on Wednesday 20 September (kick-off 2pm).
