Welsh international Charlie Murray joins from Lichfield Ladies, having been granted Elite Athlete status by the RAF.
Based in St Athan, Murray has represented Wales both in the 15s and Sevens formats of the game, and can play in a variety of positions across the backline.
Worcester Valkyries Director of Rugby Roy Davies said: “From the moment I sat down with Charlie, I was really impressed with her enthusiasm about the project here at Worcester and her desire to learn and improve. We know that she will add real value on-field.
“She’s an exciting runner of the ball but I also know that her off-field experience will be of real benefit to our group.”
Valkyries have also added exciting youngsters Charlie Wilcock, Akina Gondwe, Carmen Tremelling and Vicky Laflin to the squad, all of whom have previously been a part of the RFU Talent Development Group.
Davies continued: “We’re really excited to get these guys on board. Charlie joins from Firwood Waterloo Ladies having relocated due to work, whereas the others have joined as part of our partnership with the University of Worcester and will combine their studies with an elite rugby programme.
“We know that these girls have the potential to develop into some of the best players in the country if managed correctly, and I’m confident that our experienced coaching team, combined with the outstanding facilities on offer at both Sixways and the university, will allow us to enable them to support their aspirations.”
Valkyries are always on the lookout for new talent and boss Davies is encouraging ambitious players to come and join the Valkyries squad.
He added: “I’ve been delighted with the quality of players who have joined us in pre-season from a number of different routes, be it from the RFU Junior Academy Programme, local clubs or educational partners.
“Any coach will tell you that recruitment is always ongoing and we are aware that there will be a number of players moving to universities in the area over the next few weeks.
“We will always have the door open for any talented athletes and I would urge anyone out there who is looking for an opportunity to get in contact.”
