Howard and Stelling to depart Sixways

Warriors duo to leave this summer

Warriors can confirm that Ben Howard and Max Stelling will be leaving the Club at the end of the season.

Howard, 25, and Stelling, 24, both came through the Club’s Academy system after joining in 2011 and 2012 respectively, with the pair bursting onto the first-team scene in the 2012/13 campaign.

Full-back Howard crossed for five tries in nine appearances in his first season while Stelling secured a Club-record, six-minute hat-trick on his first-team debut in October 2012.

The pair were instrumental in Warriors’ promotion-winning campaign in 2014/15 as the Club secured the double by winning the British & Irish Cup and Greene King IPA Championship.

That season saw Stelling score 17 tries in 24 appearances while Howard’s superb showings saw him named as Supporters Young Player of the Year.

Howard also represented England at Under 20s and Sevens level, having been part of the 2013 Under 20s side which won the World Championship and Six Nations.

Howard, who scored 16 tries in 64 Warriors appearances, said: “I have loved my time at Warriors from the age of 18, coming through the Academy and being able to represent the Club on so many memorable occasions, which has been a huge honour.

“Warriors will always have a place in my heart as it’s the only Club I’ve known since I was just a boy.

“There are a bunch of top lads at Sixways and I wish everyone involved the best of luck in the coming years. I am now excited for what the future holds.”

Stelling, who racked up 30 tries in 58 appearances, said: “I’d like to thank everyone at Sixways for all the support and opportunities over the past six seasons.

“I’ve certainly made some lifelong friends and wish everyone at the Club the best of luck in the future.”

Warriors Director of Rugby Alan Solomons said: “We’d like to thank Ben and Max for their tremendous service to the Club over the years and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”
