#LeadTheWay

#LeadTheWay is an overarching campaign that will highlight the issues faced by people who have lost the ability to socially interact.

This includes people who are full-time carers for others, people who suffer from mental illness, physical disability or are living alone and have lost the confidence to visit busy places which can cause them anxiety.

This initiative, developed and led by The Warriors Community Foundation has now raised £10,000 for Guide Dogs which means that the Warriors Family is now the proud sponsors of two puppy's in training. Both are local and upon completion of their training, will be matched to with visually impaired people in our community.

So far, this season we have hosted over 300 people in our community who live in isolation and have made it possible for them to visit the Stadium, which for some has been a massive barrier to overcome.

#LeadTheWay Continued...

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting people who live in isolation, we are also training our staff including matchday staff to become Dementia Friends and Champions.

Our mission is to make Sixways a place of safety and security for people living with dementia and breakdown the barriers that prevent this sector of our community from accessing our Club.

We have already made some adjustments and staff training is well underway.

Carol Hart, Head of The Warriors Community Foundation said: "we are committed to ensuring that Sixways Stadium is accessible to all sectors of our community. Members of the Foundation Team are already qualified Dementia Champions and Educators."

If anyone would like to join one of our education sessions, please email simon.northcott@warriors.co.uk for more information. There is no charge involved in becoming a Dementia friend, it just take an hour of your time.
