Premiership Warriors team up with junior clubs

Worcester Warriors rugby stars headed out of Sixways on a very special mission.
They visited 12 of their 16 partner clubs around the region as part of Worcester’s commitment to developing rugby in the community.

First-team squad members – some with young Warriors Academy stars – spent two hours offering advice to players and coaching staff.
“It was a great evening,” says Ben Gotting, who was among the four who visited Chaddesley Corbett RFC. “The children and the coaches wanted to take everything on board and everyone enjoyed themselves. It was very successful.”
The annual visits have always proved a hit, as they also give clubs the opportunity to attract new members to the game.
Craig Everett, Mark Tucker and Harry Owens visited Alcester and had a great evening.
“They worked with four different groups throughout the evening, and Harry certainly engaged the attention of our U12s and rapidly fired some new skills at them, which went very well,” said Peter Cook. “The question-and-answer session in the club afterwards ran for a good 20 minutes, and the club was packed with juniors and parents. So it all went very well.”
The visit Kai Horstmann, Tom Harding and Martin Freeman made to Ledbury was a big hit too.
“They were excellent with the lads, and they gave a great learning experience,” said Ledbury’s Pete Church. “Any other visits would be most welcome.”
The occasion was used to launch Warriors’ Guinness Premiership cash-back scheme.
“In the past, we’ve helped many of our partner clubs raise money for kit and tours and equipment, for example,” says Dan Zaltzman, Warriors’ Community Development Manager. “It’s a simple way for clubs to raise much-needed funds while being able to experience all the thrills of Warriors’ Premiership games at Sixways.”
The cash-back scheme’s easy to use. For each ticket bought for a home match, Warriors gives £5 back to the club. Adult tickets cost £22 and child tickets £11 so that means that, if you bought 10 adult and 10 child tickets – spending £330 in total – the club would receive £100 back to plough into its own development.
