Fans are vital to us on Saturday, says Cecil

Cecil Duckworth is looking forward to Warriors’ season taking a turn for the better when Northampton visit for Saturday’s vital Guinness Premiership clash.

The Sixways chairman says it’s the ideal time for the club to register its first league win of the season, and he knows the part supporters will play in it happening.
“We have Chris Horsman, Aleki Lutui, Tevita Taumoepeau, Pat Sanderson and Miguel Avramovich away on international duty,” he reflects. “This doesn’t help our cause, but I can ensure you that John Brain, Anthony Eddy and the team have been working exceptionally hard to overcome the problems we’ve had.”
He’ll use his match-day programme notes to outline his thoughts for fans on the challenge facing the team.
“Our lineout hasn’t worked as we would normally expect it to,” he’ll say in Saturday’s magazine. “We’ve given too many free kicks and penalties away, which is something we must resolve. They put the team under intense pressure.
I realise that our start has been disappointing, not only for all those involved at Sixways, but for all our supporters as well. Naturally, we’re mindful of this. Hopefully, you will see us through this difficult period and remain positive with your support.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that we have the players and the resolve to dig ourselves out of this situation. We’re a lot better team than our league position would indicate.”
There are still some tickets available for Saturday’s match. For details, call 0870 990 5650 or book online.
