Phil Larder is reinforcing Worcester Warriors’ Guinness Premiership campaign.
The former England defensive coach will work with director of rugby John Brain and head coach Anthony Eddy at Sixways for the next seven league matches.
“I’ve been speaking to Phil for the past couple of weeks and he’s going to be doing some work with us,” says Brain. “Obviously, we have to make sure that our back line attack and team attack is more cohesive than it has been.”
The 61-year-old’s pedigree is vast. After a playing career in Union and League, he worked with Leicester Tigers during their four-year Premiership winning run from 1999 to 2001, as well as helping them to back-to-back Heineken Cup victories in 2001 and 2002.
The tough Lancastrian has applied his experience of League defensive patterns and techniques to the unique challenges of union with unparalleled success. As well being a key influence at Welford Road, he helped England to the 2004 Rugby World Cup and RBS Six Nations Grand Slam in 2003.
A former Director of Coaching for Rugby League in England, Larder also spent seven years as assistant coach to the Great Britain side.
