Don’t miss Christmas treat for young supporters

Worcester Warriors are handing an early Christmas present to the young supporters and rugby wannabes who’ve made the club’s Community Development programme a big success.

The EDF Energy Cup match against Newport-Gwent Dragons will be the highlight of an afternoon of festive fun for families at Sixways on Saturday, December 2.
The Stars and Starlets event will give young fans from Warriors’ 14 junior partner clubs a chance to meet club mascot Maximus and some of their first-team heroes, among other attractions.
Starting at mid-day for three hours before kick-off, they’ll also have the chance to measure their emerging skills in special stadium treats like inflatable radar speed rugby, the Batak Challenge and a giant buzzer game.
But that’s not all. As an alternative to Christmas shopping, there’ll be face-painters, and the chance to have a photo taken with the players and have a complimentary Club Yearbook signed.
Even then, the prizes don’t stop, because the winner of the rugby skills competition will be given an exclusive Warriors training session for his or her club and age group, with Warriors rugby camp places for the runners up.
And the fun runs into the match itself. Youngsters dressed in their own club colours will be able to represent their junior teams in the Warriors Cheering Challenge. Warriors players will judge which club shows the best support throughout the day, and the most passionate group will be rewarded with a Match Day Experience that comes with a twist – being allowed to train on the Sixways pitch.
To make it an even more family-friendly day, junior tickets will be only £5.50, with adult tickets at half price. What’s more, any club groups of 50 or over will receive £100 for their club or school.
“Our partner clubs and the schools we visit have helped make the past two years an enormous success for our community programme,” says Dan Zaltzman, Warriors’ community development manager. “We’re calling on these young stars of tomorrow to wear their club colours with pride and exercise their vocal chords against Dragons. It’s going to be a great day for them and a great way to start Christmas.”
