In light of recent speculation on supporter message boards, Worcester Warriors would like to clarify the future of the Sixways development and reassure supporters that the project remains on course.
The club remains fully committed to the multi-million development and is expecting to hear within the next few weeks positive news from Wychavon District Council, giving the club the green light to commence work.
The £23 million scheme includes a new North Stand, a health centre and racquet club, a new car park, and replacement training pitches.
The size of the project is such that is has involved senior officials from Worcester Warriors, WRFC (the amateur club), Esporta, Worcestershire County Council and Advantage West Midlands. All parties remain in constant dialogue to enable this major development to become a reality.
“We are looking forward to an exciting couple of months with the conclusion of the Guinness Premiership season and the commencement of the infrastructure works to the Sixways site,” said general manager Charlie Little.
“The stadium development is a complex project as we deal with different stakeholders, timeframes and, at the same time, meet the requirements of the Warriors, the amateur club, Esporta and Worcestershire County Council.
“However. it would appear that there have been some misinformed comments on websites regarding the future of the development and I would just like to reassure fans that we remain one of the most ambitious rugby clubs in Europe.
“Our plans remain on course and once the new infrastructure is installed and facilities complete we are confident we will have one of the best club rugby stadiums in England.”
