Worcester Warriors are used to turning heads on the field in the Premiership – but it was models on the catwalk that were the centre of attention when Sixways hosted a fashion show!
An exciting evening of fashion, fun and frivolity in aid of charity was held at the home of the Warriors on March 22.
Fabulous independent boutiques Stripes, Barbarella and Oskalily, who are all based in Worcester, joined forces as the Fashion Forum to create the ‘Arabian Nights’ event.
Guests were treated to a champagne reception followed by the catwalk event as the club’s indoor training centre was transformed into a room to rival the likes of Paris and Milan!
The show featured professional models, the latest fashion and lingerie trends and entertainment to the uplifting beat of Moroccan music, bringing a bit of London Fashion Week to Worcester.
And the Arabian Nights event raised much-needed funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice, which provides care and support to life-limited children and their families throughout the three counties.
Sophie James, Community Fundraiser for Acorns, said: “We were thrilled that Fashion Forum chose to support Acorns in such a spectacular way. It costs £4,500 per day to run the Worcester hospice, enabling us to provide the right level of care and support that our local life-limited children, their siblings and families need as they face immense challenges. We simply would not be able to do this without support from the community, and Fashion Forum led the way in terms of how they help our children through this fantastic fashion event of the year!”
Claire Wright, co-owner of Stripes, said: “Last year’s show at Sixways was such a huge success and so many customers were asking about the next event that we had to open a waiting list for tickets – this year was even better!
“We had over 300 people, including lots of our regular customers, and everybody had as great time. It is now one of the best in the region and the Arabian Nights theme was a big winner.
“As well as the models and wonderful clothes we had a group of local drummers from Worcester Arts Workshop, Bhangra dancers from Wolverhampton and flame throwers to create guests.
“We used the indoor training centre and the atmosphere was perfect and created an ideal setting.
“The Fashion Forum is already looking to plan next year’s event and would love to return to Sixways and use the facilities and staff again.”
Kathy Leather, Warriors Commercial Director, said: “It is the first time we have held a fashion show in the indoor training centre and it just shows the versatility at Sixways.
“We catered for dining on the night, musical entertainment, changing facilities and displays as well as the huge catwalk.
