Director of Rugby John Brain has called for the sell-out Sixways crowd to create a ‘spine-tingling’ atmosphere when his Warriors face Saracens on Saturday (kick off 3.05pm).
Warriors face judgement day in the Guinness Premiership and a capacity crowd will be watching on with tickets having sold out a month before the big kick-off.
Director of Rugby Brain admits there are clear parallels with the Northampton clash on the final day of the 2004/05 season when Worcester snatched safety.
And now the Sixways boss wants supporters to crank up the volume and recreate the same environment all over again.
“I can still remember the atmosphere when we played in a similar game against Northampton a few seasons ago. It was spine-tingling stuff and I would hope this Saturday will be more of the same, if not better,” he said.
“The crowd can be worth six or seven points to us as a team. The fans have been tremendous both home and away this season, I can’t thank them enough and would just ask for one final big push against Saracens.”
“It’s a full house and a game that really matters. It is a fantastic occasion to be involved in.
“The players have got to enjoy Saturday. This is the type of game that both they and the coaches should be up for and ready to experience, you have got to look forward to it.”
When the two sides last met in late November, Warriors edged a tense encounter at Vicarage Road.
But this time Warriors will face a Saracens team pumped up by the prospect of a top four finish and Brain admits his team will need to be well drilled to keep the opposition quiet.
“Saracens are a quality team and in form. But we know if we win we will more than likely stay up, there is no greater incentive,” he said.
“They are possibly the biggest test that we have faced in a long while, they are up there with Gloucester and Leicester when it comes to attacking.
“Because of that we are under no illusions of the threat they pose. They will come here to score four tries and get the bonus.
“They will want to finish the season on a real high and it is a massive test for our defence, but it is one I believe we can answer.”
