Sixways starlets blossom as Fellows flowers

Warriors Academy Manager Andrew Stanley has paid tribute to the conveyor belt of talent now being produced at Sixways after rising star Charlie Fellows signed a one-year contract.

Flying wing Fellows, 18, is regarded as one of the most promising young players on the books at Sixways having impressed in Academy and Guinness ‘A’ League action last season.

And the England Under-18 international, currently training with the first-team team squad, has now pledged his future development by putting pen to paper on a one-year deal.

The former Kings School Worcester student is just the latest player to rise through the ranks all the way to the full-time Academy. Having started his rugby in the mini/junior set-up, Fellows was part of the National Cup winning Under-17 side that also included fellow Sixways aces Jonny Arr, Jake Abbott, Andy Robinson, Tim Streather and Cameron Pimlow.

Academy boss Stanley believes the club’s thriving mini/junior section is now the ideal breeding ground for young talent to develop. And with the Worcester Rugby Under-12s recently crowned the best team in the country – having not lost a match in six years – he admits the next batch of young talent could soon be on show.

“The club is fortunate to have such an ambitious and thriving mini/junior section that can produce players for the Elite Player Development Group (EPDG) that can then come through into the full-time senior academy,” said Stan.

“Charlie is an example of that development and we’re delighted that he has signed a contract with the club and that we can continue to guide his career. I know he impressed Warriors supporters last season and I’m sure they will look forward to watching him continue to develop at Sixways over the next 12 months.”
