Warrior vision key to new deal – Garvey

Wing wonder Marcel Garvey has revealed the exciting vision for the future at Worcester Warriors was the key factor in persuading him to sign a new deal at the club.

The England Sevens star admits he has enjoyed a new lease of life at Sixways under the guidance of Mike Ruddock and back room team Clive Griffiths and Billy McGinty this season.

His eye catching form was rewarded when he signed a new two-year deal at the club on the eve of the Friday night clash with London Irish.

And the 24-year-old speedster – who attracted attention from other clubs before penning a new contract – believes there has never been a better time to be a Warrior with what is planned for the future of the club – both on and off the field.

“It’s definitely an exciting time to be at Warriors with a positive future to look forward to,” said Garvey.

“Mike Ruddock has brought in world class players like Rico Gear and we also have Chris Latham to come, he is one of the best players in the world.

“I know it has not gone to plan on the field this year but I know it is only onwards and upwards from now on.

“The style of rugby suits my game and I look forward to being a big part of the future.

“Off the field it is fantastic to see what is happening to the entire complex.

“I spoke to our General Manager Charlie Little about the plans and we aim to be the best in Europe with the very best stadium. I can’t wait to play out there when it is all finished.”

Garvey had scored six tries this season in all competitions before injury ruled him out.

And although he is now forced to wait for his time to return to the starting line-up his hunger for action burns as strong as ever.

“I’m enjoying my rugby more than ever. I started the first 16 games of the season before I picked up the injury,” he said.

“Of course it is a frustrating time at the moment, I want to be playing. But I know what I can do and will wait for my chance to show people once again what I am all about.”
