Ruddock reveals latest setback for Horsman

Warriors and Wales star Chris Horsman has been hit with a fresh injury setback after Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock revealed today that he is set to have minor surgery on his ankle.

Horsman has not featured for Warriors since the beginning of the season, playing only one Guinness Premiership game this season in the away defeat to Leeds Carnegie.

The length of the setback has not yet been identified, however, Ruddock has stressed the injury is not a major one and is not related to the problem sustained previously by Horsman which lead to ankle reconstruction on the same foot in 2006.

“We were concerned that it was the reoccurrence of a significant injury because he has had a reconstruction on the ankle but when we scanned him we found it wasn’t the same injury, it was just a little fragment of bone on one part of the heel, it is not related to the other injury in any way,” said Ruddock.

Ruddock admitted he felt for Horsman who has worked tirelessly to get back to full fitness but claimed the prop would benefit in the long term and could yet feature before the end of the campaign.

“If he is free from all his little niggles then hopefully he can feature before the end of the current season,” added Ruddock.
