Worcester Warriors are delighted to announce to the rugby world that they have signed Carter…. after agreeing terms with Alun Carter for the former Wales international to become the new Team Manager at Sixways Stadium.
Carter will take over from the retiring Tony Boddy from next season and brings with him a wealth of rugby experience in both the domestic and international stage.
Newport-born Carter was head of match analysis for the Wales team from August 1998 to July 2007. His tenure with the coaching set up took in one Five Nations tournament which included Wales’s victory over England at Wembley in 1999, seven Six Nations tournaments including the Wales Grand Slam of 2005 and two Rugby World Cups working under Kevin Bowring, Graham Henry, Steve Hansen, Gareth Jenkins and current Warriors boss Mike Ruddock. In 2001 he toured Australia with the Lions as Technical Assistant.
As a player, he captained the first ever Grand Slam winning Wales Schools side in 1983 and later went on to play as a flanker for Newport, making 144 appearances. Carter was capped twice at senior level against England and Scotland in the 1991 Five Nations.
Carter has already worked with the Warriors having provided expert weekly analysis sessions for the squad during the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

“We would like to thank Tony for his excellent contribution to the development of Warriors during that period. We wish to extend our best wishes to him and his wife and family for the future, particularly that he can now find more time for some golf and relaxation.
“Alun joins us with a huge amount of experience as a former international rugby player with two caps for Wales. He has also worked as a senior analyst for a number of years and under several Wales coaches. Alun was also been the senior analyst for the British& Irish Lions during the tour of 2001.
“Alun has been in a number of situations where he has had to manage teams of support staff and has also demonstrated a very conscientious and methodical style. We are sure that he can now bring his experiences to the table and will help the Warriors move up to the next level.”
