Project Sixways – The face of the East

Sixways Stadium, home of Worcester Warriors and Sixways Events, is undergoing a huge summer revamp with the creation of a new East Stand – and now the new stand is really taking shape!

These new pictures show the outside of the massive £8million stadium taking shape as the shell of the East Stand becomes clear.

This week the development has seen:

Cladding work has started around the entire structure, both front and back, to give it shape and work remains on schedule with this and the roof which is now right across the middle third. A translucent front to the roof is still to be put on.

A modification to the design has been agreed with an extended area in front of the corporate boxes now available. This means a standing point will be created behind the seating area on the top floor to increase the overall capacity.

The concrete work continues on both floors with both now nearing completion. The build as also seen the corridors start to take sjape inside the stand.

Two stairwells are now in and the side steel structures to both ends of the stand are now complete to give the stand its full shape.

All cantilever roofing is now in place to show the sheer size of the new East Stand.

The piling rigs are now complete in the corner block and work has commenced on the structure of his new part of the stadium that will eventually contain the Sixways Superstore, Box Office and reception.

The floodlight in the South East corner of the stadium has been moved back to its new position.

The Warriors training pitch and Wanderers match pitch is now being placed with Pershore Lane now removed. Soil is being moved to create the full area and, when complete, it will replicate the stadium pitch with the same dimensions to help training and the players.

Entrance to the stadium is fully operational with work almost complete on the road into the complex. Crash barriers have been installed along the new road system and this also nears completion. Elements of the old road are being reused as they are rolled and re-laid to help with access to the rear of the West Stand and towards the brook.

Pitch drainage linking work is being carried out in the North West corner of the stadium.

You can walk through the underpass towards the amateur club changing rooms and work now continues on his area.
