Ruddock names Middlesex Sevens squad

Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock has named an exciting 12-man squad for the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham on Saturday (August 16) – with summer signing Matthew Jones set for his debut.

Warriors finished as runners-up last season to Newcastle Falcons and have drawn Bristol Rugby in the first round in this year’s competition.

Ruddock has selected a squad with an exciting mix of experience and youth for the first competitive outing for Warriors this season.

New fly half capture Matthew Jones will make his Warriors debut at Twickenham and the team will be captained by Matt Powell.

The squad contains several players who played in the Middlesex Sevens last season including England Sevens ace Marcel Garvey, back row dynamo Tom Wood and wing speedster Miles Benjamin.

Young stars such as Matt Cox and James Collins, who have both represented England at Sevens, Alex Grove, Charlie Fellows and Greg King are also given a chance to shine by the coaching team at Sixways Stadium.
