Warriors and Rok building for the future

As well as being in action on the pitch this weekend, new club supporters Rok construction were also hard at work to ensure Worcester Warriors impact off the field is just as powerful.

A new project managed by Rok saw them join forces with the Warriors in the Community team, supported by principle partner npower, to deliver a Rok Community Challenge right on our doorstep.

The company, who were inspired by a recent visit to the Warriors Study Centre, set about a 48-hour renovation of three classrooms at local school Elgar Technology College. The renovation is to support the students learning by creating an innovative and fun environment stimulating imagination and concentration.

The concept of giving education a theme of sport has worked exceptionally well for over two years with Warriors and the Warriors Study Centre, PfS programme and other learning schemes delivered by Warriors Study Centre Manager Glynn Lodge, his team and Warriors Education Officer Dave Rogers.

Elgar Technology College’s involvement came as a result of an extremely successful multi-agency project called ‘Walk like a Warrior’ which brought together West Mercia Constabulary, the Youth Justice Board, Worcester Ambassadors as well as other local groups. The project, through the npower supported Warriors Community programme, delivered impactful reengagement work to two cohorts of students from the local school.

Tom Ryder, Warriors Community Development Manager, said: “Rok’s hard work and genuine commitment to the community has allowed future generations to benefit from improved facilities and increased opportunities.

“Their work over the weekend has shown genuine dedication and commitment from the team of Rok employees who volunteered their free time to support the latest Rok Community Challenge.”

Stars Joe Carlisle and Matt Mullan took time out of a busy weekend schedule to oversee the work and thank the Rok employees for their time. Warriors look forward to formally opening the new learning facilities when the school reconvenes for the new academic year.
