Morris to lead side for Cambridge trip

Former Wales international prop Darren Morris will captain Worcester Warriors as they complete the pre-season campaign with a trip to face Cambridge (kick-off 2.30pm).

Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock hands his young guns the chance to fire on the eve of the season as Warriors chase a perfect four wins out of four in the warm-up schedule at Wests Renault Park.

Morris is joined by Jordan Page and Shaun Ruwers in the front row and Graham Kitchener and Rob Wood are paired at lock. An explosive back row gives Jake Abbott, Matt Cox and James Collins a chance to impress with the Northampton game just a week away.

Rising stars Jonny Arr and Joe Carlisle join forces at half back while Chris Pennell will be vice-captain from full back against the National Two side.

Brothers Alex and Ollie Grove play together in the back division and are joined by Samoa international Loki Crichton and Charlie Fellows.

“Following on from our three successful pre-season games, we’ve picked a good young side to make the journey to Cambridge,” said Ruddock.

“There is a good mix of experienced players to help some of the youngsters along. Darren Morris will captain the team and he will have plenty of assistance from first team players such as Loki Crichton, Joe Carlisle, Chris Pennell, Jonny Arr and James Collins.

“We’re looking to complete our pre-season programme with another victory and keep the pressure on the rest of the squad for places in the starting line-up against Northampton Saints.”
