Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock has demanded his side produce an immediate response and focus on the challenge of London Wasps after opening day defeat.
Warriors lost 21-13 to Northampton Saints for a disappointing start to the new 2008/09 Guinness Premiership campaign.
But Ruddock is adamant his players can regroup for the trip to Adams Park on Sunday (kick-off 3pm) and produce a much improved performance against the champions.
“It’s a difficult start for us with two away games but I expect us to bounce back,” he said.
“I don’t think we are the sort of outfit that starts to be negative about that we are about. We are positive and that has been evident in everything we have done this summer.
“Certainly the last six months of last season that was the case so we don’t see one defeat and one under performance to change that one. We need to come out fighting next week against London Wasps.”
Ruddock has also praised new boy Matthew Jones after he impressed with the boot and ball in hand at Franklin’s Gardens.
“I thought Matthew did really well,” said Ruddock. “He kicked out of hand really well and made one lovely break in the first half. He kicked his share of goals on a difficult surface too and got the line going when he had chance.
“By comparison it was a difficult day for Chris Latham to make an impact with two or three forward passes to him and from him that were border line.
“That could have set us going but it didn’t go away. But we have to take it on the chin and concentrate on Wasps and a response.”
