Latham injury boost for Warriors

Aussie superstar Chris Latham looks set to return to Sixways this Saturday for what will be a great encounter to mark the end of Warriors home games of 2008 – against rivals Bristol Rugby (3pm kick-off).

Latham has been a great inspiration to players and fans alike since he arrived at Warriors at the beginning of the season.

With an unfortunate knee injury setting him back against Newcastle Falcons in November there is no doubt the full back will be hungry for action.

The injury drought has also come to an end for full back Chris Pennell who is back fighting fit and ready selection this coming weekend.

Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock explained: “We obviously have a quite a few of the guys out with injury. Chris Latham and Chris Pennell hopefully should be returning. Latham should definitely be on the list at the weekend, so that’s great news.”

Unfortunate news broke out of Warriors camp this week that a flu bug virus is spreading amongst the players and many have been sent home from training in order to rest up ready for Saturday’s game.

However, Ruddock remains positive and is certain that the Warriors will be ready for their opponents before the week is through.

“We have a couple of the guys who unfortunately have picked up a heavy cold flu like virus,” he said.

“They have all had flu jabs. We have a few coughs and sneezes hitting the camp but we’re not overly concerned about the work ethic and preparation and we’re pretty much certain that all those affected will be ready for the end of the week to take their place.”

“Rico Gear he’s had a groin injury which we are looking at today, it’s definitely 50-50 as he’s got a cold as well which is on his chest. Hopefully we’ll see some improvement there.”
