Ruddock optimistic over Latham injury

Mike Ruddock has revealed full back star Chris Latham has not suffered a serious injury after the Warriors sace was carried off against Sale Sharks at Sixways Stadium.

Former Australian international Latham scored a sublime opening try in the game but was then left motionless on the turf after a collision on 16 minutes.

The star back was stretchered off the field and later taken to hospital for tests.

But Director of Rugby Ruddock revealed that the early prognosis had been encouraging and the full back was released from hospital on Saturday night. It is now hoped that Latham will be fit to face Bath on February 14.

“Chris has gone to hospital but it sounds like he will be fine, he was later released after tests,” he said.

“I’m relieved to hear that he was okay and talking, the medics have said it is not a serious injury.

“It is a shock type injury where the spinal cord gets a jolt and momentarily everything shuts down for a while. He lost a bit of the feeling in his arms and legs for a while but that has now returned.

“Obviously it is still serious enough but the prognosis is positive at this stage.”
