Collins latest Warrior to sign up

Worcester Warriors are delighted to announce that back row star James Collins has committed his future to the club by signing a new deal.

Warriors Academy product Collins – known as JC by fans – has penned a new two-year deal with the Sixways Stadium side and will now remain at the club until at least 2011.

Back row dynamo Collins, who has impressed the national selectors with his athleticism and skill and has been rewarded with numerous call-ups to the England Sevens squad, has played 12 senior games for Warriors.

The 23-year-old Birmingham-born ace was hailed as man-of-the-match after a hugely impressive all-action show against champions London Wasps at the start of the season and recently featured in the derby day win over Gloucester Rugby.

“The future looks very bright for JC. He is a great talent who will now be aiming to get a run of games now he is injury free,” said Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock.

“We are delighted he has signed a new deal and it once again shows the belief that the youngsters have in the club and our ambition. It also demonstrates what a great Academy structure we have in place with Andrew Stanley, Gary Meechan and their staff developing some great young prospects year after year.

“There were other clubs chasing JC so we’re delighted that has seen the club as crucial to his development.

“Pat Sanderson is our skipper but JC is backing himself to get more game time this season. We believe he will get more game time and put more pressure on the other back row players.”
