Forensic science workshop success

This year’s Easter School was a three-day Forensic Science workshop entitled ‘Who Killed Pat Sanderson?’ that was hosted by Warriors Study Centre in conjunction with Worcestershire County Council Science team and supported by Staffordshire University, Scientific and Chemical and Worcestershire Education Business Partnership.

The event involved Year 8 students from Alvechurch Middle School, Aston Fields Middle School (Bromsgrove), Parkside Middle School (Bromsgrove), St.Johns Middle School (Bromsgrove) and Droitwich Spa High School.

Students undertook crime scene investigation and studied techniques in fingerprinting, blood analysis, hair and fibre analysis and footwear analysis before entering a mock courtroom and presenting their work for judging before a panel of experts

The winning team – called Team Kitchener from Aston Fields Middle School – of Hannah Williams, Emma Brooks, Oliver Hodges and Eleanor Kitching were special guests for our recent European Challenge Cup clash with Brive.

Meanwhile, the Playing for Success centre saw a 10-week study support programme for schools covering literacy, numeracy and ICT delivered through the theme of rugby by the Warriors Study Centre.

The Spring term award winners were: William Stott (Year 5) – St.Catherines Primary School, Kidderminster, Daniel Jones (Year 6) – St.Barnabas Primary School, Callum Price (Year 6) – Gorse Hill Primary School, Donna MacDonald (Year 6) – Dines Green Primary School, James May (Year 7) – Witton Middle School , Droitwich, Scott Godffrey (Year 7) – Elgar Technology College, Ellie Caines (Year 8) – Droitwich Spa High School and Liam Griffiths (Year 8) – Pershore High School.
