Ambition was key factor – Walker

New boy Willie Walker cannot wait for the new season to start after sealing his move to Sixways Stadium – after revealing the ambition and potential at Worcester Warriors was a key factor behind his summer switch.

Walker has signed a two-year deal with Mike Ruddock’s men after impressing on a three-month loan spell last season.

The 30-year-old is now eager to get started with his new club when pre-season kicks off next month.

And Walker admits the potential at the club and ambition to be the best was a driving force behind his decision to pick Warriors above other clubs.

He said: “I’m delighted to sign for Warriors and I really enjoyed my time at the club when I was on loan.

“I really got a feel for what the club was about and the direction the club is going in during that time. The Chairman, Cecil Duckworth, has a real vision for the future and it is something I’m excited about being a part of.

“There was interest from other teams, however, after the spell I had at Sixways during my three-month stay I always wanted to come back here if at all possible.

“I settled in well during the loan spell and knowing a number of the players already helped. Now I’m looking forward to really becoming a part of the team and settling down in the team.

“We have a month until pre-season starts and I’m already looking forward to getting back to Warriors and getting started.

“If we can get people back fit there is no reason why we can’t be competing at the top end of the table, there is no denying the quality in the squad at Warriors and the potential is huge.”
