Last few places for summer of touch

The last few places are now available for our annual summer touch rugby competition at Sixways Stadium – with the first try out day this Sunday (May 24).

Running over eight weeks, as well as two free “Try Out” days, you have no reason not to be in the thick of the rugby action this summer.

Get your co-workers, friends and family together to enjoy this great way to get together, get fit and have loads of fun.

Our two free “Try Out” days will be taking place on Sunday (May 24) from 2.30pm until 4pm and on Wednesday (May 27) from 7pm until 8.30pm, with both taking place on Cummins Farm. These days are open to teams, who want to have some trails and learn the rules, or individuals to come along and find a team.

The big kick-off for the summer touch rugby competition will be Wednesday, June 3 and then for eight weeks. The competition will be run as a six-a-side league and is open to all age groups with a minimum of ten players per team.

This year the format of the leagues has changed and instead of different categories we are running three divisions based on ability and experience. Please note, Division One is the top league and we would expect the better sides to enter here regardless of whether they are mixed or single sex. Division Three is aimed at new teams with inexperienced players and social sides.

The last few team places are still available, with the emphasis on those that what to join a fantastic summer social event and give rugby a go – maybe for the first time – in a friendly and welcoming environment.

The membership and registration fee for a season is £300 per team which means over the eight-week season it works out at less than £3 per person per week (in a squad of 12).

So come along, give it a go, be a part of the action and have fun this summer at Sixways. For more details contact the Community Department on 459316.
