Sixways to host Warriors Open Day

Worcester Warriors is delighted to announce that the club will host a FREE ‘Warriors Open Day’ at Sixways Stadium on Saturday, August 22 – that will also include a pre-season friendly with Ebbw Vale!

The club’s Open Day – that is set to become an annual event in the Sixways calendar – will see the doors at Worcester Warriors flung open for the day to everyone with FREE admission to celebrate the forthcoming 2009/10 Guinness Premiership season.

In just over a month, the special one-day event will provide fans with the first opportunity to meet some of Worcester’s new signings and get to know the players who will become household names over the course of the season.

The day kicks off at 10am and the real draw for many will be the interaction between the Warriors and supporters, with special meet the player sessions and the chance to grab all your autographs at signing tables.

Children will have plenty to do with Warriors inflatables and rugby activities with the players taking place at the stadium throughout the day, with events being run by our Community team.

There will also be the exclusive chance for fans to take a guided, behind-the-scenes tour of Sixways Stadium.

Live music will take place around the stadium, bars and food will be available and there are also planned displays by the Police and Army.

The highlight of the day will then see Worcester Warriors take on Ebbw Vale on the stadium pitch in a pre-season game that kicks off at 2.30pm.

“This day is all about the fans getting close to the players, it’s completely free and there is plenty to do for all the family,” said Charlie Little, General Manager at Warriors.

“We want the Warriors Open Day to become an annual event every August and we have been planning this event for several months now to make sure it is a fantastic day as we open our doors to everyone.

“Our Debenture, Season Ticket holders and fans can come along and get autographs, talk to the players and coaches in an informal setting and have their picture taken with the stars.

“It is also the opportunity for anyone who has never been to the club before to visit us and see what we are all about, how we have grown over the last six years and how they can be a part of our future.

“The highlight of the day will be a pre-season game against Ebbw Vale which means our Open Day will go beyond any other in the league.

“In professional elite sport there can often feel a distance between players and fans, but we want to pull that down and make sure we can all come together to celebrate the new season. We are a family club and want the whole region to come visit us and become part of the Warriors.”

Entrance is FREE to everyone, so come along, bring a friend, and enjoy a day of family entertainment with the Warriors.
