Worcester Warriors boss Mike Ruddock has revealed that utility back Calum MacRae is set for an enforced spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken thumb in the pre-season defeat to Ulster Rugby at Sixways Stadium.
Versatile back MacRae, who signed last week on a one-year contract from Edinburgh, has impressed in his time at Sixways Stadium.
But he was forced off at half-time against Magners League giants Ulster Rugby and now Director of Rugby Ruddock has admitted he will be out of action as the new Guinness Premiership season kicks-off.
“Unfortunately Calum has broken his thumb and will be out of action for around six weeks,” he said.
“He will see a hand specialist on Tuesday and then we will know a little more and whether he requires surgical intervention.
“We are particularly disappointed for Calum as he’s only just joined us, with Dale Rasmussen currently out injured and Sam Tuitupou still recovering at this moment it is a big blow for us.”
