Warriors sign up Ireland star Best

Worcester Warriors are delighted to announce the major signing of Ireland international back row forward Neil Best from Northampton Saints.

Belfast born Best, who has made 18 appearances for his country, has agreed a two-year deal, with an exclusive option of a third year, that will see him move to Sixways Stadium for the 2010/11 season.

A tough-tackling and uncompromising flanker, Best will add considerable experience to the Warriors squad with his haul of Ireland senior caps and over 100 appearances for Ulster.

The 30-year-old started his career with Belfast club Malone and made his mark on the world stage when he was named man-of-the-match in Ireland’s win over Australia at Lansdowne Road in November 2006.

Best, who also played for Ireland A in the 2008 Churchill Cup, joined Northampton at the start of the 2008/09 season and will now move across the Midlands to join Warriors until at least 2012.

“I’m delighted that Neil Best has decided to join Warriors next season,” said Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock. “This is a great signing for Worcester Warriors and we look forward to welcoming him to Sixways.”
