Prostate cancer tests at Sixways

Prostate Cancer Tests
Saturday 27th March – Warriors Boardroom – Sixways Stadium

Warriors support Prostate Cancer testing at Sixways

You will know that we have a scheme for testing Warriors Supporters, their friends and relatives, for prostate cancer.
This simple blood test provides a substantial indicator as to the likelihood of prostate cancer and as a result of previous tests several men have been diagnosed and been successfully treated for their illness.
Prostate cancer kills a man every hour; it is one of those awful afflictions where the awareness of any symptoms usually means that the cancer is beyond successful treatment.
Early diagnosis is essential.

Every man over the age of 45 years is recommended to have the test carried out annually.
Our tests are carried out under the control of Mr. David Baxter-Smith, who is a consultant surgeon specialising in this field,
(who was presented with the Worcester Ambassadors “Pride of Worcestershire” award in September 2009.)

Previous testing in association with the Worcester Ambassadors in 2008 were attended by 41 men, four of them were referred for further diagnosis. In 2009, 69 men attended, seven were referred.

Two gentlemen who were diagnosed as a result of these tests with prostate cancer, have received treatment successfully.
Neither had any symptoms of the illness before taking the test.

How simple is the procedure?
The Warriors Boardroom at Sixways Stadium opens at 10.30am with tests starting at 11.00m till 1.00pm
Phlebotomists from Droitwich Private Hospital take blood samples from everyone’s left arm
The samples are analysed at Droitwich Private Hospital the following day
All results are passed to David Baxter-Smith who advises each man by personal letter whether the test shows an “all clear” or if further investigation is needed.
All attendees for this test must have an advance purchased ticket for this game.
Please ensure that suitable car parking arrangements have been made.
There will be no parking on site unless a car park pass has been purchased in advance.
