Sanderson calls for complete display

Talismanic skipper Pat Sanderson has backed his Warriors to rise to the challenge in the closing weeks of the Guinness Premiership season and insisted ‘We know we can pass this test’.

Sanderson will lead Warriors into battle this Saturday as table topping Leicester Tigers visit Sixways Stadium (kick-off 3pm).

Worcester have won the last three games on home soil in all competitions and Sanderson is keen to extend that run and gain some valuable league points.

And the flanker revealed the mood in the camp remains totally united and focussed on the task in hand.

“It is going to take a complete performance against Leicester and it is a big, big challenge. They are on top of their game and beating people well,” said Sanderson, who speaks in The Warrior match day programme this Saturday.

“It is a massive six-game season for us now. Without question it is the hardest and tightest league I have ever been in. What we are seeing in the last few weeks is the bottom beating the top. It just shows what sort of division it is now.

“All we can do is focus on ourselves to get up the table and there is loads of belief and the mood is very good.

“We are aware of the situation we are in, we are not ignoring it. But we genuinely believe we have played some good rugby this year.

“If you are up there with your effort and your physicality every week invariably you win games. We have to keep that belief and I don’t see it wavering.

“Perhaps the benefit we have is that we have gone through this pressure before. We know how to deal with people and how people in our environment respond to this.

“Ultimately, we have had our will tested like this before. We know we can pass this test.”
