Gillies helps Warndon Sport Relief mile

Worcester Warriors lock Craig Gillies made sure pupils at Warndon Community Primary School got into the spirit of Sport Relief 2010 when he visited the school to officially start their mile last week.

All of the children from Reception to Year 6 completed their mile around the school field to raise money. All the money raised by the public during the fundraising is being spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people, both at home and across the world’s poorest countries.

Year 4 teacher Dean Salisbury said: “We were really grateful to Craig for starting the race and talking to the children. It gave them massive encouragement to have a professional rugby player visit them.”

This term the Year 4 children at Warndon also have been taking part in the Learning With The Warriors programme, sponsored by Link Telecom, and the Year 6 children have been taking part in a tobacco awareness campaign delivered by Warriors Community department.
