More twists and turns to come – Boss

Boss Mike Ruddock has admitted the tense Guinness Premiership run-in for Worcester Warriors will have plenty of ‘twists and turns to come’ – no matter what the result in the huge league clash with Sale Sharks on Friday night (kick-off 7.45pm).

Warriors travel to Edgeley Park for a crunch televised clash and Director of Rugby Ruddock admits the stakes are high for both teams.

However, he insists form over the closing five weeks of the domestic campaign and not just an 80 minute performance in Stockport will ultimately decide the club’s fate.

“There are a few more twists and turns to come yet and you can’t get too wrapped up in individual games,” he said.

“Whatever happens on Friday night, we are looking forward to it and are preparing to go there and try to win as we have done for the last two years running.

“I spoke to Kingsley Jones at the ‘A’ game between the two teams on Monday night and he said ‘what about four tries each and a draw?’ I thought that could be an interesting way of looking at it!

“Obviously there will be pressure on us to get the result, which we’re quietly confident we can, but there’ll be even more on them.

“If they don’t win their home games it leaves them a bit more exposed, whereas we’ve still got three more home matches to come.

“There is a lot of pressure on us, but there is on Sale too – possibly even more. They are sitting there in unknown territory – they haven’t been down at the bottom in recent years – while we’re used to this.

“They’ll know that we have the potential to beat them and that we are used to battling away in these circumstances. We are used to this sort of pressure game and it will be interesting to see how they react to it.

“Whatever happens on Friday, it won’t change things too much for us. It would be nice if we could get that result, but it will go down to the wire and there are three or four teams involved.”
