Billy McGinty leaves Worcester Warriors

Worcester Warriors has today announced that Billy McGinty has left his position as Backs & Defence Coach prior to the start of pre-season training.

McGinty, a former Great Britain RL international and Sale RFC coach, moved to Warriors in May 2004 when the club was elevated to the Guinness Premiership and his dedicated work helped establish the club in the English top-flight.

Relegation has promoted a major re-structure under the leadership of newly appointed Head Coach Richard Hill. All parties agree that the time is right for a new coaching set-up as the club bids for immediate promotion and thereafter Premiership success.

Chairman Cecil Duckworth OBE is appreciative of McGinty’s dedicated to the Warriors cause and said: “I would like to thank Billy for his efforts over the last six seasons, the professional manner in which he has always conducted himself and his tireless work across several facets of the coaching department.”

Billy McGinty added: “I would like to thank Cecil for his support during my time at the club, the staff and players for their efforts and ultimately the Sixways supporters for their strong and loyal backing.

“I am looking forward to my next challenge and will leave Warriors with many fond memories. I will continue to follow the club’s fortunes closely as I have made a number of good friends. I wish Richard Hill and his team all the very best for the future.”
