Davies is ideal man for Sixways – Hill

Richard Hill has hailed the qualities of new appointment Phil Davies as the former Leeds and Scarlets boss was today unveiled as Forwards Coach at Worcester Warriors.

Sixways boss Hill has built up a close friendship with Davies since their playing days and recent years in coaching.

The duo will now combine to lead the Warriors in the forthcoming RFU Championship season and Hill knows the Davies is the right man with the right qualities to make a big impact at Sixways.

“I know Phil very well having played against him when representing England against Wales and also at club level,” he said.

“As a coach I have watched him progress and have always admired what he did at Leeds, taking the club and developing his own culture within it. He built the whole club, as opposed to just the team on the field, and was instrumental in building Leeds to where it is now.

“We worked closely together during our time completing our RFU Level 5 and I got to know about his coaching philosophy.

“That highlighted to me just how organized he is, his attention to detail and how his work ethic is second to none. He has all the right attributes and is a motivational and passionate rugby coach.

“We had talked about working together many years ago so I know Phil is the ideal coach and fit for Worcester Warriors and will be a fantastic success at Sixways.”
