Hill praise for impact of ‘rock’ Best

Richard Hill has praised the impact of summer signing Neil Best on the Worcester Warriors pack – describing the Ireland international as the ‘rock’ of the back row in the opening months.

Head Coach Hill is set to hand Best – who has featured in every RFU Championship game so far – a well earned rest this weekend for the home clash with Plymouth Albion (kick-off 3pm) as he looks to rotate his playing resources.

And he has been quick to hail the contribution of the dynamic and ultra consistent back row at Sixways.

“Besty has been very important,” said Hill. “He has been the rock of the back row and played very well. He will have a rest this weekend as we are pulling him out.

“He has played an exceptional amount of rugby and played well – but now needs a rest. We have told him so he has a big smile on his face.

“Because Besty is a bit newer, and we know a lot about Pat and Kai, it has been interesting to get a good long look at him. We know much more about him now.

“He has been consistently very good for us. You can trust that he will produce week in and week out. The same applies for Marcel Garvey who has also featured in every game for us so far.

“Marcel has been very confident and he is going from strength to strength at the moment. I want to keep him going.

“We will give Marcel a rest at some stage, but he has been someone who has really enjoyed playing and scoring tries. He is our top try scorer and we want him to carry on doing that – he is important to us.”
