Richard Hill hailed the impact of his hungry replacements and last action hero Oliver Tomasazczyk as they entered the game to help Worcester Warriors claim a 33-13 victory over Plymouth Albion.
Worcester failed to click into gear in the opening hour at Sixways before a scintillating final 20 minutes saw them pull clear of battling Albion.
Hill admitted his bench power had brought new impetus to his Warriors on home soil as they remain top of the RFU Championship.
“I think the replacements that came on changed the game for us,” said Hill. “They bought some physicality, energy and enthusiasm to get us out of a hole.
“I was delighted with the young lads like Oliver Tomasazczyk, Ollie Frost and Matt Kvesic, while the older campaigners like Chris Fortey and Greg Rawlinson really added a huge amount of physicality when they came on. The others began to feed off that.
“I was looking for a bit of an improvement on our first 11 games, but certainly didn't get that in the first-half. When we woke up and got angry in the second-half, it was a little bit better.
“On 65 minutes, it looked as though Plymouth Albion could sneak the win, but in the last 15 minutes we turned things around and it was reasonably comfortable by the end.”
Hill also praised wing Marcel Garvey as he grabbed his ninth try of the season in 12 games to remain top of the scoring charts at Sixways.
“Marcel Garvey is hard to leave out,” said Hill. “I have been trying to give him a little rest, but he is our sharpest back at the moment, which makes it difficult not to pick him. He's looking sharp at the moment and scoring tries.”
