All smiles – Charity shirt for derby day!

Worcester Warriors will be all smiles for the local derby with Moseley Rugby – with the stars from Sixways wearing a special charity shirt designed by a young supporter to help raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice!

Warriors launched a special once in a lifetime competition earlier this year for young fans to design the playing shirt the team would wear in the RFU Championship game with Moseley. After the game, all the shirts will be auctioned off to raise crucial funds for Acorns. Further details will appear after the game on warriors.co.uk

The competition caught the imagination of our supporters as over 350 young Warriors got creative and sent us a wide array of creations for our big festive fixture!

The top three entries – designed by local schoolchildren Eleanor Ward, Belinda Bailey and Cammi Fletcher – were created by official kit provider Cotton Traders, with the youngsters presented with their shirt on the pitch during half-time of our league game with Rotherham Titans.

The players at Sixways then selected the fantastic colourful and smiley design by Cammi, aged 13 from Evesham, as the winner! Cammi will now join captain Kai Horstmann to help lead the Warriors out into league action on Boxing Day!

“I knew that Acorns worked with children so I thought it would be brilliant if my design was really happy and colourful,” said Cammi, who attends St Egwins CE Middle School in Evesham.

“I was really excited when I was told I had won, I couldn’t believe it, and I have been wearing my design for PE at school so all my teachers and friends could see.

“I can’t wait to see the Warriors run out in my design and all my family are coming for what will be an amazing day.”

The charity shirt will be available to purchase from the Sixways Store. Further details will be published at www.warriors.co.uk

Worcester Chairman Cecil Duckworth OBE said: “Our players will be giving a very visual show of support for the wonderful work of Acorns Children’s Hospice by wearing the striking jersey designed by our talented fan Cammi who won a closely fought competition against many first class entries.

“The Warriors are long-term supporters of Acorns, with our players making weekly visits to the hospice in Worcester and the Sixways Store selling a range of Acorns items just two of the ways in which we show our backing.

“Many of the children cared for at Acorns are unlikely to reach adulthood so it’s vital that we work together to make every moment special.”
