Grove all set for Meadow Lane call-up

Boss Richard Hill has revealed that refreshed Scotland international centre Alex Grove is set to force his way into his starting line-up for the play-off clash with Nottingham Rugby on Friday night (kick-off 7.45pm).

Grove, who made his 50th appearance for Warriors when he came on against London Welsh last weekend, has impressed in cup appearances since his return from a loan spell at Edinburgh.

Hill is now ready to unleash the attacking midfielder alongside Alex Crockett as Warriors hunt a third win of the RFU Championship play-offs.

“We are planning a few changes with rotation and Alex Grove will probably come in and Dale will drop down to the bench,” said Hill. “That is not because Dale did not have a good game against London Welsh, I thought he was exceptional, but Alex has performed well when he has played.

“We have high quality centres and it about time Alex Grove, after having a week off following a run of games, comes back in nice and fresh.”

Meanwhile, Hill has highlighted the form of star wing men Miles Benjamin and Marcel Garvey and believes the deadly duo can continue to terrorise defences as the run-in the league season gathers momentum.

“Miles and Marcel have been in fire,” said Hill. “Miles got a bit angry that Marcel was picking up too many tries for his liking and the last two weeks has really turned it on.

“Back-to-back hat-tricks show what kind of form he is in at the moment and he is such a dangerous runner, very strong with a great step and hand-off.

“There is nice competition between our wingers and I expect Marcel to be on fire this week because he wants to get some of that limelight back.”
