Head Coach Richard Hill admitted the script could have been written any better for centurion Greg Rawlinson as the big lock grabbed a second half try in the thumping 81-13 victory over Bristol.
Former New Zealand lock Rawlinson led the team out at Sixways as he celebrated a century of appearances in Worcester colours.
The all-action lock produced a tremendous display and his efforts were rewarded when he barged over for a try that saw him mobbed by delighted team-mates and receive a standing ovation from a partisan home crowd.
“You could not write the script any better, it was perfect for Greg to score on his 100th game,” said Hill.
“Everyone was willing him to score and he was pretty close just before that. To get over the line, well he was delighted and I think he has kept the match ball!
“I am really pleased for him and he’s enjoyed this season. He has had knee trouble, but he has managed it with the physios and has come off the bench to great impact.
“He has still put in some terrific performances and the players like playing with him. To score a try on his 100th game was very fitting and I’m delighted for him.”
Rawlinson was one of many Warriors that came to the fore in a convincing victory, but Hill was keen to get his troops focussed on the semi-final when he admits they will have to work hard for any scores.
“The players were sensible with that display and it will normally take 60 minutes to break an opposition down,” added Hill.
“It going to be hard graft and even Bristol put up a lot a resistance in the first half. We scored three tries in the first half and eight in the second.
“You have to understand, against top quality teams, it is going to take 60 minutes and you can’t panic too much at half-time.
“You are not always going to be way ahead at half-time and against Bedford here it will take some time.
“The best case scenario is to be clear, but in reality in the semi-final it is going to be hard graft for an hour and hopefully in the last 20 minutes, if you have got the game won, you can go at them.”
