Fatiaki named in Fiji World Cup squad

New signing Ravai Fatiaki is off to the Rugby World Cup after being selected in a 30-man Fiji squad, which includes 21 overseas-based players, for the showpiece event in New Zealand.

Fatiaki, who will join up with Warriors after the competition, is joined by English based players that include Bristol fly-half Nicky Little, Saracens winger Michael Tagicakibau and Gloucester flanker Akapusi Qera.

Prop Deacon Manu, who has played more than 100 matches for the Scarlets since moving to Wales from New Zealand in 2006, will lead the team.

Fiji will play in Pool D along with South Africa, Wales, Namibia and Samoa, with the top two teams progressing to the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Fataiki was celebrating as Fiji claimed the Punjas Series against Tonga – and new Worcester team-mate Aleki Lutui – on Friday night.

In the end despite going down 32-20 the Flying Fijians claimed the Series by a greater differential of a mere three points over the two games.
