Claassens out to use home advantage

Full back sensation Errie Claassens is determined to try and make home advantage count when Worcester Warriors face league leaders Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership on Saturday at Sixways (kick-off 3pm).

Claassens has been one of the star performers this season since his summer move from London Welsh and shone at full back with his confidence under the high ball and attacking flair from deep.

The South African born star admits playing in front of a partisan home crowd at Sixways is already a special occasion for him every time he pulls on a Worcester jersey.

And the 29-year-old is hoping for another big crowd on Saturday as Warriors look to return to winning ways and build on the opening day success over Sale Sharks.

“We are all looking forward to playing at home again – the first game against Sale was so exciting,” said Claassens, who appears as the main feature in 'The Warrior' match day programme on Saturday.

“If we can get our support right behind us and do the things we all know we can do well then I am sure we will get that second win of the season.

“There is no doubt that Harlequins look like a team on form with three wins under their belt. They are very clinical.

“But we set a bar for ourselves last weekend against Saracens that we need to repeat, even though we didn’t get the result in Watford we know if we perform like that then the results will come.

“On a personal level, I have been pleased by how I have started at Warriors. It’s good to come to a new club and get an opportunity. I’ve been fortunate by injuries to some players, but I am really enjoying it here and happy to be in the Worcester camp.”
