Rasmussen to lead side against Saints

Richard Hill has revealed Dale Rasmussen will captain Warriors in the clash with Northampton Saints – while he is still contemplating his changes in the pack with Kai Horstmann ruled out.

Horstmann is set to miss the next four weeks of action with a hamstring strain and Hill will look at his options before picking his forwards for the massive home Aviva Premiership encounter.

“Dale captained us against Argentina and did a very good job. He got the team really fired up and he will do the job again,” said Hill.

“We have options in the back row with Adam Balding, Richard Muagututia, Chris Jones and Matt Kvesic who can play Number Eight. There are four potential people who could come in. We’ve got to way up the lineout, restart receipts, the breakdown and call carrying.

“Kai was instrumental for us in restart receipts and he was one of our key players in the lineout so we have got to look at who will best fulfill that function.”

However, Hill has indicated that new Samoan back row Muagututia is more likely to feature in the upcoming LV=Cup campaign as he finds his feet at Sixways, following his debut for Worcesetr Cavaliers on Monday.

“Richard has settled in and the players have helped him,” added Hill. “Bu it didn’t help him not having a decent platform in the A game to play off, so we probably need to see him a few more times before we make a judgment.

“We will certainly play him in the LV=Cup, after that we are into the second round of Aviva Premiership games when we can see what he can do.”

“Nobody really stood out on Monday night. There has been a number in that group that have been knocking on my door saying they want to have a crack at the first 15. But if you do you have to perform in games like that.”
