Burlish star in Aviva Schools Programme

Ten teams from across the Stourport and Bewdley area recently attended the Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme Festival at Stourport RFC.

The programme has been run by the Warriors Community department and has seen tag rugby delivered to 60 pupils from Year 4 at schools in five sessions, each lasting one hour.

Schools taking part included: Upper Arley C.E. Primary School, Burlish Park Primary School, St Bartholomews C.E. Primary School, Holy Trinity, Stourport Primary School, St Anne's C.E Primary School and Bewdley Primary School.

The festival produced a fantastic show of tag rugby and was always played with the right spirit. All the children played four matches and this culminated with the final being played between Burlish Park and Stourport Primary School.

Burlish eventually won 10-5 and now both schools can look forward to playing at Sixways on January 7 at half-time during the Worcester versus Gloucester league derby game. One of our schools will then represent Worcestershire at the Aviva Premiership final.
