Coach praise for back row debuts

Richard Hill praised the contribution of try scorer Nile Dacres and Samoan international Richard Muagututia as they both took the chance to shine against Bucharest Wolves.

Dacres was one of eight try scorers on the day as he celebrated his first start in the Amlin Challenge Cup by sliding over in the first half.

Number Eight Muagututia also produced a powerful display on home soil to cause huge problems for the Romanians as Worcester ran out comfortable 57-13 winners.

“I thought Nile played really well,” said Hill. “He got a lot of ball and I didn’t see him make a mistake this afternoon. For an Academy lad like that, in his first time in the senior side, it was a really good effort.

“We played him out of position as well at six as opposed to lock, but I was really pleased he finished off a good move to score to squeeze in the corner.

“Marcel Garvey was screaming for it but like a good lad didn’t bother and just carried on and scored his try. Marcel was never going to get that with a forward that close to the line,” laughed Hill.

“But that will reverberate down to the rest of the Academy lads. To see that one of their team-mates has come up to the first team, done really well and scored.

“If we can give Richard the ball in some space then he has got good pace, good feet and leg drive. He is going to cause some damage,” he added.

“It was a good confidence booster for him too, it is the first time he has been involved with the first team as opposed to the A team and he enjoyed himself.

“I think he found it colder than Samoa, but despite that he played very well.”
