Hill targets New Year for Taylor debut

Head Coach Richard Hill has revealed that new signing Ezra Taylor has jetted into Sixways this week but will not feature in the Christmas fixture with Leicester Tigers on Tuesday.

New recruit Taylor arrived in the UK on Wednesday afternoon and immediately travelled to Sixways to check out his new surroundings at Worcester Warriors.

The Brisbane-born forward has gone straight into training today (Thursday) with his new team-mates.

But Hill has admitted, with registration red tape to tie up, he would not be thrusting his new man into the sell out game and instead would let him settle in before the away clash with London Wasps on New Year’s Day.

“Ezra will not be involved. He was a little but late for registration for this game,” revealed Hill.

“He arrived on Wednesday, he has trained with us on Thursday and he looks in very good shape. We will do all the paperwork and he will be registered in time for Wasps.

“He is big but he looks lean. Ezra is not bulky and heavy, he looks athletic. We will get the fat calipers on him later on to really test his body fat, but looking at him he has the height and size.

“If he can play rugby like we have seen in all the footage then he is going to be exceptionally good. We will look to get him involved at Wasps.”

Hill is keeping his team selection close to his chest but admitted that fit-again duo Matt Mullan and Matt Kvesic are in his plans.

He added: “Both Matt Kvesic and Matt Mullan are fit. That is a really big boost for the club and both will be involved, in some capacity, with the match day 23.

“We are keeping our team under wraps until Boxing Day like Leicester Tigers. We will keep each other guessing for now.”
