Hill ready to unleash Cowan in LV= Cup

Head Coach Richard Hill has revealed that recent recruit Blair Cowan is set to start his first game for Warriors in the LV= Cup clash with Saracens at Vicarage Road on Sunday (kick-off 3pm).

Back row Cowan has been forced to play a waiting game since his arrival at Sixways due to not being registered for European action.

However, the resumption of the LV= Cup gives Cowan the chance to stake his claim and Hill is keen to see the man from Cornish Pirates in action as soon as possible as he again look to use his squad.

“One player who should get an opportunity this week is Blair Cowan,” said Hill.

“I need to look at Blair so he will play almost certainly for the next two games and also we have Richard Muagututia to come in.

“The back row of Abbott, Kvesic and Betty is playing week in and week out at the moment.

“They are playing superbly well and they are not injured, but I am hoping the three lads who have been playing every week will get some respite.

“There are a lot of good players who didn’t come on the trip to Paris and we will look to mix and match next week against Saracens,” he added.

“There is a very good spirit at the moment. Playing a team like Stade was always going to be a tough one away from home, but we have practiced hard. It should be exciting as we want to keep working on the attack and striving to play well.

“I’m pleased with how this four-week period of cup games has gone so far. We have got to improve in certain areas and bring on some youngsters – that is progressing really well.”
