Hill looking upwards after Quins clash

Head Coach Richard Hill insisted his focus was on Warriors moving up the table and not what teams around Worcester were doing in the Aviva Premiership after narrow defeat to table toppers Harlequins at Twickenham Stoop.

Worcester secured a deserved losing bonus point on the road for the second successive week in the league and now look forward to a return to home soil when Saracens visit Sixways on Friday night (kick-off 7.45pm).

And after the game Hill was adamant he was only interested in what the Warriors were doing and not results elsewhere as the competition entered the final few months.

“I’m not interested in what other teams have done – the way we are playing at the moment, we are interested in ourselves and moving up the table. What is happening around us does not concern us in the slightest,” he said.

“The last four games and the way we have performed, and the points we have picked up, is not a team that is going to be worried about relegation.

“That is provided we concentrate every single game, put in the work, prepare like we do each week as if it is an international, analyse the opposition carefully and get our game plan right.

“With the effort these boys are putting in, I have no issues whatsoever,” he added. “As long as we do our bit and prepare, those boys will go on the field and work hard for each other. We are looking forward to next week already.

“On current performance, we are not far away from moving up the table and we have run most of the top teams close.

“However, this is a World Cup year, where a lot of players are fatigued, and we understand that. Teams have had a lot players missing and we are now in a Six Nations period, I’m not too blind to the fact that teams are weakened and perhaps have other fish to fry.

“But I am delighted with the progress we are making. We have our own little world that we live in and we will keep doing what we are doing and keep getting better. We are not very far off from beating these top teams.”
