Meech to host Coach Education evening

Skills Development Coach and Academy Assistant Manager, Gary Meechan, puts his focus on Coach Development, whilst continuing the Worcester Warriors Coach Education programme, currently running this season.

Following on from sessions that have previously taken place this season by Richard Hill, Phil Davies and Andrew Stanley, ‘Meech’ is set to deliver a session based on Developing the First Receiver.

The session is due to take place at Sixways, on Monday (March 5), from 7pm. Admittance is free to any coach from the West Midlands, and is part of the Warriors commitment to develop grass roots rugby in the region.

“I’m keen to do the session, it has been a while since I did one, the last one must have gone down well!!” says Meech.

“Don’t let the title fool you, it’s not a backs session, I look to improve all positions, with their skill acquisition, and their ability to read the game, and the hope is that all coaches will gain something from the evening.

The current Academy will also be on show as Meech added: “In order that I can demonstrate the skills are all inclusive, the players used on the evening will include forwards as well as backs, I don’t segregate when I coach them these kind of skills, and I expect them all to be able to perform at the same level regardless, so most of the young full time Academy members will be there. I would encourage coaches to come for that reason, it may help them benchmark some of their own players.”
